Made from a light-weight cloth material, the MX-5 has an easy open and close soft-top roof. Designed for easy operation whilst sitting inside the vehicle, with one easy movement the MX-5 can go from a closed to open roof for an extra invigorating driving experience.
The wheel arches of the Mazda MX-5 are notably pronounced to accommodate the wide wheel track dimensions and to provide an athletic stance consistent with new Mazda design DNA.
To enable occupants of the MX-5 to enjoy 'wind in the hair' open-top motoring without being buffeted by turbulence, the vehicle is designed and fitted with features including the mesh-construction aero board. Slowing reverse-flowing air entering the cabin area, turbulence is greatly reduced.

The MX-5 is fitted with a MZR 2.0 litre 4 cylinder DOHC S-VT engine. Producing 118kW and 188Nm, this light-weight sports car enjoys a torquey, responsive performance throughout the rev range. Allowing the driver to enjoy strong acceleration throughout each gear.
The chassis of the MX-5 has been specially reinforced to offer greater stiffness. So even during the most demanding driving, accurate handling is assured.

With four round heating and cooling vents situated across the front of the cockpit, the MX-5 will maintain cabin comfort in the height of summer and the dead of winter. To sustain comfort with the roof down, additional vents direct heated or cooled air onto occupant's lower body and feet.
Within the cockpit, piano-black finish provides a modern high quality surface to several areas. To stay true to the sporty DNA instilled within the MX-5, just enough metallic detail is applied throughout the cabin as well as sporty seat back style bars.
The MX-5 has a multi-function steering wheel. The body shell of the Mazda MX-5 has been designed with crush cans, three-fork structures and energy absorbing door trims. These all work effectively together to absorb impact energy and channel it away from occupants.
Greatly reducing the chance of the MX-5 skidding sideways when cornering, the DSC system alters the vehicle's power output to maximise control in turning situations. The system is also switchable on/off, meaning, in controlled environments, one can practice advanced driving techniques.
In the MX-5, each seatbelt has a pretensioner and variable load limiter. The pretensioner tightens the belt to restrain the user when a collision is detected. If the load applied to the belt is too high, the load limiter loosens the belt so that it restrains, but does not apply excessive pressure.
To increase driver visibility, the MX-5's A-pillars are positioned further rearward giving a greater spread angle and a greater field of view from side to side. Further more, the sun visors are incorporated into the windscreen frame so they do not obstruct the drivers view when retracted.
