Exterior

Halogen headlamps

Comprised of a clear lens cover over a chrome housing, the sweeping lines of the Mazda3 front headlamps adds to the fun but assertive nature of the vehicle. Providing ample light in all conditions, the Mazda3 will show you the way.

Quality and craftsmanship

Rear tail-lamp

Sports body kit

For an extra dose of sporty attitude, the Mazda3 Maxx Sport features both side skirts and a rear spoiler.  Taking it to the next level, the SP23 adds unique front and rear aero bumpers to the side skirts and rear spoiler for an overtly athletic appearance.

Performance

2.0 & 2.3 litre petrol engines

Both 2.0 & 2.3 litre DOHC engines are specifically tuned to deliver spirited performance. With plenty of power and torque for the kind of drive you can only describe as exhilarating and where the fun-to-drive factor is multiplied. Both engine's feature Sequential Valve Timing (S-VT) for optimum driveability and improved fuel economy.

2.0 litre turbo diesel engine

Pumping out 105kW of power and an impressive 360Nm of torque, the Mazda3’s class-leading diesel engine combines direct-injection and a variable geometry turbocharger for sporty driving with impressive fuel economy (6.0 litres per 100km combined).

Drive-by-wire throttle

Thanks to the drive-by-wire electronic throttle, the Mazda3's responsiveness is the envy of many sports car drivers. The improved communication with the throttle provides smoother acceleration and benefits fuel economy.

Steering and braking

Mazda3's steering is tuned for greater sensitivity to engine speed variation meaning the car goes exactly where you want it to. Impressive braking power is also at your command, with large diameter discs all round. The Mazda3 truly delivers exceptional performance.

Suspension

The Mazda3 range is equipped with MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension. Promising linear handling and excellent ride control, the Mazda3 inspires confidence while firmly hugging the road whilst cornering, and smoothing out the roughest of bumps.

Transmissions

Neo Sport and Maxx Sport models feature either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed Activematic with manual type shift control. The SP23 is available with a 6-speed manual offering crisp shifting or opt for automatic convenience with a 5-speed Activematic featuring steering wheel shift control that puts total control at your fingertips.

Audio system

You will be amazed by the crisp, clean sounds produced by every Mazda3 audio system. Featuring 4 or 6 speakers, MP3 compatible CD players and an auxiliary jack to connect your favourite MP3 player (model dependent). SP23 Luxury takes it to another level with a premium 222 watt Bose® amplifier and 7 speakers (including subwoofer).

Safety

Anti-whiplash seating system

The front seats are designed with anti-whiplash headrests designed to minimise whiplash in the event of an accident. In addition all five seats in the Mazda3 are fitted with 3-point seatbelts. Front seats are also equipped with seatbelt pretensioners, load-limiters and height adjustable anchorages.

Braking system (ABS, EBD and EBA)

Mazda3's large diameter disc brakes combine with a 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) to ensure you stop in the smallest possible distance while maintaining steering control. In addition to ABS, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) distributes braking force between front and rear while Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) ensures optimum braking force is applied in emergency situations.

Intrusion brake pedal

The intrusion-minimising brake pedal in the Mazda3 is designed to collapse away from the driver during a collision, greatly reducing the risk of lower leg injuries.

Keyless entry and immobiliser

All Mazda3s feature remote central locking transmitters with a clever retractable key as well as an engine immobiliser which will prevent the vehicle from being started without the correctly coded key.

Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) Airbags

All Mazda3s feature front (driver and passenger) SRS airbags. Side (front) and curtain (front and rear) SRS airbags which provide an even greater level of passive safety are available as part of an optional Safety Pack on Neo Sport, or standard on all other models. Mazda3 gives you and your loved ones that added peace of mind.

Triple H safety construction

The Mazda3s body architecture features a 'Triple H' structure that disperses frontal impact energy, a rear frame that maximises rear impact absorption and ultra strong cross members that protect against side impacts. In addition, the Mazda Advanced Impact Distribution and Absorption System (MAIDAS), maintains the structural integrity of the passenger compartment.
