Drive-by-wire Throttle

Thanks to the drive-by-wire electronic throttle, the Mazda2's responsiveness is the envy of many sports car drivers. The improved communication with the throttle provides a smoother ride, as well increases your control over the vehicle when driving.

Engine

The new Mazda2 features a 1.5 litre in-line four cylinder engine with great fuel economy. Clever features like S-VT (Sequential Valve Timing) and an electronic throttle deliver plenty of power.

Handling

The lightness and sporty design of the new Mazda2 makes it a beautiful ride. The Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS) system is the first of its kind to be used by Mazda and gives the ultimate handling. With a tiny turning circle of 9.8m, new Mazda2 manoeuvres with ease in car parks and zips around tight city streets with desirable style.

Transmission

Choose a slick shifting 5-speed transmission, or the ease of a smooth 4-speed automatic transmission. The 5-speed manual is impressive with easy operation and refined shift feel. And the 4-speed automatic is known for its Zoom-Zoom driving enjoyment.

Comforts

Air-conditioning, power windows and mirrors are standard across all model variants. And this 6-stack CD player (standard in Maxx and Genki) is MP3 compatible too. Plus, it also comes with an AUX jack (standard across all models). So you can connect your iPod and listen to all your favourite tunes, wherever you travel.

Instruments

This strikingly different instrument panel helps to create a sense of space. And white gauges surrounded by silver rings are very sporty indeed. This circular theme is part of the Mazda design DNA (also found in Mazda models like the MX-5). A sporty must-have.

Seats

The interior fabric colours are very chic, consisting of two stunning patterns using mostly black with subtle touches of blue/gray. Comfortable to sit in with all the right support, you can just sit back and enjoy the drive.

Steering wheel audio controls

Available on the Maxx and Genki grades, the Mazda2's steering wheel comes mounted with controls to the audio system. With a simple movement of a finger you can change audio settings whilst keeping your eyes on the road.

Safety

Airbags

Front driver and passenger airbags come standard across the entire Mazda2 range. Side and curtain airbags (front and rear) are available as options for the Neo and Maxx, and standard on the Genki, both provide even greater safety benefits so you and your loved ones can drive with added peace of mind.

Anti-lock brakes

In the event of hard braking, the Mazda2 ABS braking system will stop you from going into a skid. This safety measure allows the driver of the vehicle to maintain steering control. In addition to ABS, the Electronic Brakeforce Distribution system (EBD) distributes the braking force between front and rear.

Anti-whiplash seating system

All five seats in the Mazda2 are fitted with 3-point seatbelts. Front seats are also equipped with seatbelt pretensioners, load-limiters and height adjustable anchorages. In addition to these, front seats are also designed with anti-whiplash headrests adding further protection against injury in the event of an accident.

Dynamic Stability Control

The optional safety pack for the Neo and Maxx includes the added confidence of DSC (Dynamic Stability Control). This advanced system helps prevent skidding, or loss of control, on wet or slippery roads and is also optional on Genki models.

Intrusion-minimising brake pedal

The intrusion-minimising brake pedal in the Mazda2 is designed to collapse away from the driver. Greatly reducing the risk of leg injuries in the event of a collision, this safety feature is just another in the long list of Mazda safety zone features.

Seatbelt warning system

The Mazda2 seatbelt warning system is designed to remind the front seat driver and passenger to put on their seatbelts. With both visual and audible cues, forgetting to put on your seatbelt will be a thing of the past.
